Intro

The Horry County Legislative Delegation office serves as a liaison between its citizens, governmental agencies, and the 16 elected state legislators who represent Horry County in the South Carolina General Assembly. Five state senators and eleven representatives comprise the delegation. The office coordinates administrative functions and meetings of the Legislative Delegation and the Delegation appointed Horry County Transportation Committee, maintains various boards and commissions to which this delegation makes appointments, assists constituents and legislators with a variety of tasks, and processes all Notary Public Commission applications filed by Horry County residents. The Delegation appointed Horry County Transportation Committee (CTC) also known as the C-Fund Committee, approves funding to improve existing municipal, state, and county-maintained roadways in Horry County.

History

The Horry County Legislative Delegation is comprised of legislators who represent Horry County in the South Carolina General Assembly. The 1975 passage of Act No. 283, S.C. Acts and Joint Resolutions, mandated the creation of County-funded delegation offices to provide administrative support in each of the state's 46 counties.

The Delegation Office performs a variety of research and investigative tasks for legislators and constituents. Work is not limited to state agencies and may include contact with federal and local government agencies.
How can I become a Public Notary in Horry County?

When does the Legislative Delegation meet?
The Delegation meets at the call of the Chair, normally once in the fall and once in the spring, and can be at various sites throughout the county and in Columbia as well. For meeting times, call the Delegation Office.
Can I speak and/or present at a Legislative Delegation meeting?
Legislative Delegation meetings are open to the public; however, the meetings are limited in time, and not all presentations and/or requests will be on the agenda. Approved agenda items will be permitted five (5) minutes to present, which includes question and answer time. Please email the Delegation office with the following information: title of presentation (if applicable), presenter’s name and title (in applicable) or constituent’s name, address, contact number and email, and topic of discussion. The Delegation office will contact presenters and public input requests that are approved for the agenda.
