You may have noticed construction activity along Holmestown Road. Work is now underway on a project that will improve safety and connectivity along this heavily traveled roadway.

A new shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists will run along the eastbound lane of the roadway from Highway 707 to Highway 17 Bypass. The project also includes a new crosswalk at the intersection of Holmestown Road and Scipio Lane.

The project is made possible through earmarked funding from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (SCPRT).

Traffic interruptions are expected to be limited throughout construction, but drivers are asked to be mindful of crews working along the shoulder.

Construction is expected to continue into early 2027.
