As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 25, 2026, we’re highlighting places throughout Horry County where the public can pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who served our nation.

THE HORRY COUNTY MUSEUM – 805 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526

The Horry County Museum is a year-round local treasure. New in 2026, the museum is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a new exhibit, 
“For the good of our Country and the welfare of our lives, liberties, and fortunes...” The Dynamics of Horry County During the American Revolution. This exhibit focuses on the area that became Horry County, once part of Georgetown District, during the American Revolution.

Please note, the Horry County Museum is closed on Saturday, May 23 in observance of Memorial Day. The Museum is also closed on Sundays and Mondays. 

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE AT THE HORRY COUNTY MUSEUM - 805 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526

The Horry County Museum, along with several partners, will host a FREE 2026 Memorial Day Tribute on Monday, May 25, 2026 at 2 p.m. inside McCown Auditorium.

The 2026 Memorial Day Tribute is designed to honor Americans in uniform of all ages who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country, and will include a moment of silents, presentation of the national colors by a color guard, live patriotic music, and recognition of veterans of the American Armed Forces by service branch and era.  It also includes the screening of a locally produced historical documentary: Death Drop: The 82nd Airborne and D-Day, which chronicles the actions of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and airborne operations related to the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II.

CHARTERS OF FREEDOM - 805 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526

Outside of the Horry County Museum, you will find the Charters of Freedom. This display features replicas of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Civil Rights Amendments. The exhibit is equipped with lighting to allow for viewing in the evening hours and when the Horry County Museum is closed.

HORRY COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL - 1201 3rd Ave, Conway SC 29526

Located outside the Historic Horry County Courthouse, the Horry County Veterans Memorial is dedicated to all Horry County men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces.

HORRY COUNTY VIETNAM FALLEN COMRADES MEMORIAL - 1201 3rd Ave, Conway SC 29526

Just steps away from the Horry County Veterans Memorial outside the Historic Horry County Courthouse is a memorial dedicated to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War and later died as a result of their service.

PETER HORRY HISTORICAL MARKER - 1201 3rd Ave, Conway SC 29526

Peter Horry, Horry County’s namesake, served in the Revolutionary War alongside Patriot leader Francis Marion. This historical marker outlines Horry’s life and legacy.

BLUE STAR MEMORIAL HIGHWAYS - 1201 3rd Ave, Conway SC 29526

Horry County is home to several Blue Star Memorial Highways that pay tribute to the armed forces that have defended the United States of America.

WARBIRD PARK - 150 Farrow Parkway, Myrtle Beach SC, 29577

Warbird Park, located within the City of Myrtle Beach, is home to several memorials in addition to displays of several old fighter aircraft.

The park, which sits on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, is dedicated to the men and women of the United States Air Force. While walking through the park, you’ll find other memorials dedicated to those who served in various capacities during times of conflict and war, including a World War II Memorial.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, the City of Myrtle Beach will also host a ribbon cutting for its new Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial.
