Horry County Emergency Management is seeking public comment on the draft Horry County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazards Mitigation Plan.

Every five years, Horry County updates its Hazard Mitigation Plan — a roadmap to help reduce the impact of disasters like hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and severe storms. This plan:

·        Builds off our current plan

·        Identifies our most significant natural hazards

·        Analyzes our risks and vulnerabilities

·        Recommends actions to protect lives, homes, businesses, and infrastructure

The plan was created in partnership via the Mitigation Task Force. HCEMD worked with cities, towns, emergency responders, public works, utilities, schools, nonprofits, and community members to develop it. It helps Horry County stay eligible for federal disaster relief, and grants that strengthen our communities.

Please consider taking time to review the draft plan and offer comment. There is a supplemental StoryMap that provides background information on the plan update as well.

Comments will be accepted through August 30, 2025.
