The stormwater improvement project on Hemingway Chapel Road in the Conway area is nearing completion.
Contractors repaved the roadway Friday morning, with plans to reopen to traffic Friday evening. The road will remain closed until barricades are removed. Until that time, drivers should follow all posted signage and traffic control devices.
Final construction activities, including hydroseeding, will take place next week. Please continue to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
This is one of five Horry County drainage projects funded by a nearly $5.5 million grant through the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA).
The project included the replacement of a single concrete pipe with three new 48-inch and one new 36-inch concrete pipes.
These improvements will mitigate flooding upstream of Hemingway Chapel Road and limit flood impacts to homes during major storm events.
