On Wednesday afternoon, Horry County Government hosted its annual Employee of the Year ceremony.

Horry County Government is privileged to have thousands of dedicated team members serving our community each day, but only a select few are considered for this prestigious honor.

It is with great pride Team Horry announces Leona “Lee” Brown of Horry County Memorial Libraries as the 2025 Employee of the Year!

Brown currently serves as branch librarian at the Socastee Library and was recognized, in part, for her leadership in creating the Little Free Pantry at the library, which provides non-perishable food items and other essential supplies to community members in need.

“I’m overwhelmed, I’m grateful, and I’m honored,” Lee said.

Runner-ups for the 2025 Employee of the Year award include Ofc. Nicholas Guida, Ofc. Kenneth Spears, and Ofc. Jonathan Sookram of Horry County Police Department, as well as James “Walker” Calhoun of Horry County Public Works.

Congratulations to Lee and all of our nominees!
