Employment Qualifications

  1. Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  2. Experience in telecommunications, public safety or related field preferred, but not required
  3. Pass a criminal background investigation

Employee Training and Requirements

  1. National Crime Information Center Certification
  2. South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy E-9-1-1 Telecommunicator Specialist Training
  3. Certifications from the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch in the following areas:
    1. Emergency Telecommunications
    2. Emergency Fire Dispatch
    3. Emergency Medical Dispatch
    4. Emergency Police Dispatch
  4. Mandatory in-service training
  5. Various local and regional training opportunities
  6. CPR
