General Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Supervisor II position is responsible for supervising and directing daily maintenance activities associated with the county road network. Assists Road Maintenance Supervisor with district responsibilities. Assigns duties and monitors performance of crews for road, drainage, and signage work. Ensures compliance with safety standards and proper worksite procedures. Provides leadership, staff development, and emergency response support. Reports to the Road Maintenance Supervisor.

Duties for this Position
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensure worksite compliance with safety regulations. • Develop employee knowledge and skills for professional growth. • Manage staff, assign duties, and maintain conduct standards. • Oversee construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, bridges, and drainage systems. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Assign and supervise workload, maintain performance standards, and coordinate personnel. • Review subordinate work for accuracy and completeness. • Engage with residents and citizen groups to address concerns and provide information. • Maintain department operation records and handle service requests. • Oversee inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, DES, and water regulations. • Investigate safety violations and accidents. • Prepare and submit reports, analyses, and documentation. • Operate vehicles, radios, computers, and standard office equipment. • Perform related duties and respond to emergencies as needed. KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: • Knowledge of roadway, drainage, and bridge maintenance techniques. • Ability to interpret and enforce safety regulations and construction codes. • Strong supervisory and personnel management skills. • Effective communication with staff, residents, and stakeholders. • Ability to operate and oversee use of maintenance equipment. • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation. • Capability to manage emergency and disaster response functions. • Competency in planning and organizing long-term departmental goals.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS: • Requires high school diploma or equivalent. • Five (5) years of experience in road maintenance and construction experience preferred. • Supervisory experience preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
