General Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs general accounting and bookkeeping tasks including routine calculating, posting, and verifying; processing invoices and purchase orders.

Duties for this Position
  • Performs routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
  • Posts details of business transactions such as allotments, disbursements, pay and expense vouchers, remittances paid and due, checks, and claims. Posts invoices to General Ledger.
  • Types and/or prepares vouchers, invoices, account statements, periodic deposits, and other records.
  • Assist in verifying employee timeclock for edits/errors.
  • Verifies and processes invoices and purchase orders received. Communicates with vendors and department personnel to coordinate invoices and payments.
  • Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve various information.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties including answering phones, copying, preparing mail, and filing. Maintains various files, including vendor and invoice files.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as calculator, computer, printer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.
