General Job Description

Under general supervision, monitors and investigates improperly licensed and/or unregistered motor vehicles in.the possession of state residents and serves various other administrative support functions for the Auditors Office. Fields inquiries and responds to complaints concerning vehicles belonging to County residents that are allegedly improperly registered and licensed. Utilizes various techniques to pursue information received as to vehicles that be owned by SC residents, but registered and/or licensed in other states, including but not limited to: Internet searches, state and local databases and field investigation. Works closely with County school administration and law enforcement as it relates to proper registration of vehicles. Will be required to learn SC laws regarding proper vehicle registration in this state.

Duties for this Position
  • Performs various administrative and accounting duties as necessary, including but.not limited to telephone inquiries, preparation and issuance of general tilJ( notices, processing of payments, copying, filing, and preparation and issuance of correspondence, notices, reports and records.
  • Will interact professionally and courteously with County officials, employees, and citizens. Will operate a variety of equipment. Must have a valid SC Driver's License with a clean record as well as other records. Must display professionalism, patience and courteous behavior regardless. of the situation.
  • Conducts ongoing site surveillance as appropriate and/or necessary at schools and other County locations to obtain or pursue information as to possible violators who may reside in South Carolina but register or license their vehicles in other states.
  • Must conduct themselves with discipline, self-control, integrity and confidentiality as meets with Horry County and the Auditor's mission in dealing with sensitive information.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to work alone as well as with others. Five years of Administrative duties.and Eight years proven customer service skills. Gets along well with others. Ability to understand state laws and direction quickly in order to fulfill position requirements. Typing and Data Entry skills should be 60 - 65 words per minute and familiar with all office equipment. Must use time wisely, have character and integrity in regard to working alone and being out in the field. Will.also be required to work in the office and front counter as needed. Reports to immediate Supervisor.
  • Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
