General Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Project Manager will work closely with Horry County government departments along with the on-site Employee Wellness Center staff in order to develop, implement, and improve plans and processes as well as manage and assist with various projects.

Duties for this Position
  • Acts as County liaison for the on-site Employee Wellness Center and maintains effective communication with appropriate County staff as well as Wellness Center staff.
  • Develops tracking measures for the wellness program and the Employee Wellness Center statistics to report to the Management Team and present to County Council when requested.
  • Oversees the administrative functions of the on-site Employee Wellness Center that is within the County’s control.
  • Forecasts, develops, and manages the Wellness and Employee Wellness Center budgets.
  • Leads the RFP process for renewing and securing new wellness related contracts.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to research Wellness Center additional services; lead implementation of additional services once approved by Management Team.
  • Assists during the interview and hiring process of new Wellness Center team members.
  • Responsible for certain billing functions and corresponding accounts receivable.
  • Evaluates aggregate health risk assessment data and surveys to determine priorities and types of health education programs needed.
  • Evaluates claims summary reports from health insurance providers.
  • Assembles data and metrics for periodic reports on the effectiveness of the programs in improving employee health and reducing health care costs.
  • Develops and coordinates programs and strategies to promote employee health and wellness.
  • Oversees the management of wellness programs, including design, planning, implementation, management, and evaluation.
  • Makes recommendations to the Management Team regarding wellness program enhancements, changes, etc.
  • Follows through with approved recommendations by developing and implementing services and programs specific to the County’s wellness goals and employee health risks and interests.
  • Chairs the Wellness Committee, scheduling meetings and preparing items for discussion.
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources to determine appropriate vendors for wellness programs.
  • Serves as liaison between the workplace and referral resources in establishing wellness programs; and recommends external vendors and oversees program delivery to determine quality and effectiveness of programs provided.
  • Develops a wide variety of employee wellness activities and programs including exercise programs, weight loss programs, and annual health screenings, teaches educational and exercise classes; orders and awards incentive prizes.
  • Serves as the key resource for engaging employee awareness and participation in Wellness and Health Improvement programs.
  • Performs related duties as may be required and/or assigned.
  • Uses extreme discretion regarding privacy and understands confidentially laws, etc.
  • Must be highly skilled in data management and budgeting.
  • Must be able to pass required pre-employment physical and background check.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Business, or Management, and five years of progressively responsible experience in project management, strategic planning, budget management, and/or program evaluation; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience within a local, state, or federal government is preferred. Prior Wellness Program Management is preferred.
