Why not live where most people love to vacation! Horry County is seeking a Director of Parks and Recreation to help guide our growth and lead a dedicated team parks and recreation professionals. Horry County operates over 30 different recreational facilities, 28 boat landings, and 22 beach accesses serving all different ages of locals and tourists alike. The construction of two new recreation centers as well as two other major park expansions will be completed over the next three years. Will also assist in the development of a new, regionally significant, 500 acre Rural Civic and Equestrian Arena with Convention Halls, Restaurants, and RV Campground. Under limited supervision, the Director supervises, plans and directs the activities of the Parks & Recreation Department in order to ensure the proper provision and administration of parks & recreation programs, activities, and facilities. Develops policies and procedures to ensure that the Parks & Recreation programs reflect the best use of allocated funds. Prepares and administers department budget, ensures all work is conducted within budgetary constraints and according to County policy, codes and standards of quality. Provides and encourages professional development opportunities for staff. Attends local, regional, and national parks and recreation related conferences and shows to ensure our practices are state of the art and trend setting. Salary dependent on qualifications. Anticipated hiring range $110-130K but final offer could be lower or higher depending on qualifications. Reports to the Assistant County Administrator of for Infrastructure & Regulation.
