General Job Description

Maintains kitchen according to established government health and safety regulations. Follows guidelines for the proper storage, preparation and service of food. Accepts food shipments and stocks appropriately.

Duties for this Position
  • Reviews special diet requests and assists in planning healthy, appetizing meals.
  • Completes required paperwork.
  • Operates a variety of equipment and tools such as a fryer, ovens, grill, stove, steamer, toaster, mixers, knives, basic cooking utensils, cleaning equipment and supplies, telephone, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with supervisor, dietician, co-workers, Detention Center Director, Center employees, inmates and delivery persons.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • GED and one to two years of cooking experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
